Carnival Socks
For me, making ruffles is one of the special pleasures of knitting. The simplicity of dramatically increasing (or decreasing!) in a short distance of your work, causing the fabric to ruffle, is always fun. For this double-ruffle sock, using a glittery metallic yarn, I added a special picot edge for a bit of extra detail. This is one of those socks that is easy to adapt. Experiment with different colors for the ruffles. Consider adding stripes along the way. Or what about adding a third or fourth ruffle? ¡Olé!
ERRATUM: For the ruffles in the Carnival sock, a decrease round is missing:
Round 4 should be round 5.
Round 6: P around.
Round 7: K around.
Round 8: P around.
Round 9: If you used the provisional cast on, follow the directions as written for the hem of the ruffle. Otherwise, K around.
Round 10: P around.
Round 11: K2tog around (the missing decrease round!). Continue in garter stitch until round 17, which is the second decrease round, where you should K2tog around and change to DPNs. Then continue as written. Sorry!
