Pattern description from Alterknits: Basic embroidery stitches jazz up this colorful cardigan for boys and girls. When designing it, I was careful to keep the colors and the motifs gender-neutral so that it could be easily handed down from sibling to sibling (or other family member) without worrying about it being too masculine or feminine. Unlike traditional cardigans, the bottom of this one is knit in three separate panels (two fronts and a back.) the embroidery is worked at the end and is, of course, optional.“
Finished Measurements: 24 (26, 28, 30, 32)“ chest, buttoned; To fit child’s size 2 (4, 6, 8, 10)
Yarn: Louet Gems Topaz (100% wool; 175 yards/100 grams): 2 (2, 3, 4, 4) skeins main color (A), 1 skein each of three contrasting colors. Shown in size 26” in Colorway 1 - #2014 champagne (A), #2554 willow (B), #2524 grape (C), #2474 terra cotta (D); in size 30” in Colorway 2 - #2534 caribou (A), #2474 terra cotta (B), #2364 linen grey (C), #2484 aqua (D).
Needles: One 29” circular (circ) needle size US 8 (5.5 mm). Change needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: stitch holders, stitch markers, yarn needle, size 3/8” buttons.
Note from Alterknits: To create smooth edges on garment pieces, work edge (selvage) stitches throughout patterns, as follows: Slip the first st knitwise on every row, and purl the last st.
