- Christmas Make-it Ideas has the unisex pattern with a boy’s size and a girl’s size.
- Needlework & Crafts has only the boy’s size, and the title of the pattern is “Doll’s Car Coat and Hat.”
- Doll Fashions has only the boy’s size, and the title is “Car Coat and Hat.”
- Fashion Doll Wardrobe Vol. 2 has only the boy’s size, and the title is “Jacket and Beret.”
Yarn: 1 oz. each for boy’s or girl’s set
Additional materials: 4 buttons for girl’s coat, 5 buttons for boy’s coat
The bodies of the coats are worked flat in one piece. The sleeves are worked in the round. The stand-up collar is picked up. The back belt and pockets are worked separately and sewn on. The Doll Fashions and Fashion Doll Wardrobe Vol. 2 sources have added instructions for working buttonholes; the earlier sources have you push the buttons through the stitches.
The hats are worked in the round. The girl’s hat has an open crown to accommodate a ponytail.
Sized for a Barbie-type or Ken-type doll with the 1960s figure:
Girl: 5.5”/3.125”/5”
Boy: 6.25”/4.5”/5.125”
The fit may vary on modern dolls.
