Canny Lass is a semi-circular shawl worked from the top down with small lace bands and a wide applied edge. It is suitable for intermediate knitters who are comfortable following lace instructions.

This shawl is designed to use exactly two skeins of Whistlebare Yeavering Bell 4ply. Please weight your skeins and check your gauge to make sure you have enough yarn.

The shawl is fully written apart from the lace edge which is both written and charted.

Canny Lass was designed and inspired by gorgeous yarn produced by a small family farm in North Northumberland, UK. They keep pedigree flocks of Angora Goats, for their fine mohair fleece and Wensleydale Sheep for their high lustre longwool. The mohair and wensleydale fleeces are then scoured, blended and worsted spun in Yorkshire in a mill is in its third generation of family ownership.

I wanted to design a shawl that reflected the gorgeous Northumbrian landscape and its colours — and also a shawl that reflected the spirit of spring and all its joy. The result is Canny Lass, a shawl that is soft, feminine, and full of bloom.
