Candy the Snowman
Candy the Snowman is a sweet, traditional design. While I’ve never experienced a “White Christmas” Candy is an expert – earmuffs and scarf in tow!
Candy is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in US (American) terms. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My Candy is approx. 14cm tall (5 ½ inches).
You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).
You will need:
- 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted, less than 50g in WHITE, BLUE, GREEN, RED, ORANGE and BROWN
- A pair of 9mm safety eyes
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
- Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
- When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
- Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
- Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item.
- I’ve used the following yarns: o WHITE = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 401 Paper White o BLUE = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 434 Marine Blue o GREEN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 430 Grass Green o RED = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 414 Rose Red o ORANGE = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 420 Blood Orange o BROWN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 411 Coffee Bean
- I have used plastic safety eyes but you may choose to embroider the eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
