Camper Van
For retro surfing and seaside fans … a squishy knitted camper van! For intermediate and advanced knitters, the body of this camper van is knitted in one piece using short row shaping and intarsia colour-work in garter stitch. The wheels and bumpers are knitted separately and sewn on after making up, and the window struts are embroidered in chain stitch. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the van is knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).
NEEDLES
A pair of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles (US 4).
RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 100g/280m skein in each colour.
NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, stitch markers, and buttons to decorate.
SIZES
One size only - the van is 11cm tall x 18cm long x 8cm deep.
TECHNIQUES
For intermediate knitters and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, increases and decreases, knitting stripes, and seaming plus a little embroidery decoration to finish.
