Camilla
Camilla is a beautiful, heart shaped shawl that can be knit and accessorized in many dazzling, unique ways.
The shawl begins at the back of the neck, with a double increase on each end and a single increase on either side of the center stitch (6 sts increased every other row) to create a flattering shape.
Camilla is knit using three different colors, so that you may create as many shawl color combinations as you wish to dramatically complement your outfits or the shawl may be knit in a single color for a more subtle look.
This design can be fully blocked to create a larger, full body shawl or worn unblocked for a more informal, ruffly shawlette/scarf.
(This pattern was inspired by my favorite actress, Miranda Hart, in her portrayal of “Chummy/Camilla” in the series, Call the Midwife. Her character is so charming, funny, deeply caring, uncharacteristically lovely, practical and unconventional. I hope this shawl, with it’s formal and informal options, will shine just like her character does on the show.)
Materials Needed: 5 small stitch markers (2 of one color, 2 of another, 1 of a third color), additional stitch markers (optional), scissors, measuring tape, tapestry needle, row counter, scrap yarn in contrasting color for lifeline (optional)
Yarn: 3 skeins of The Plucky Knitter Primo, Bello, Oxford or Feet
NOTES:
- Written instructions
- Large, easy to read charts
- Stitch counts for each row
- Endless color combinations
- Version 2 - work the last 4 rows (and picot bind off) using a different color yarn
- Please take time to read the “Important Notes” section before beginning the shawl, it will help a lot!
- Two bind off options (though, the picot bind off is totally worth the extra work!)
Happy Shawl Knitting! :D
