This pattern is a MKAL and will start on the first of January 2021. There will be 4 parts uploaded successively on the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd of January. When the MKAL is finished a complete pattern will be uploaded as well.

The pattern will be free until January 1st, then you will get 75% off until the 8th, 50% off until the 15th and 25% off until the 22nd. From the 22nd of January the pattern will be the normal price.

The sock is a top-down construction, has large and small cables and twisted stitches. The pattern is charted. You will need 2 seed beads (3-4 mm). I would advise a (semi-) solid yarn or a yarn with very long repeats. The pattern will be difficult to see in busy yarn.

Introduction:
Once upon a time, in the north of a land we now know as Wales, there lived a powerful enchantress called Morgên Dylwythen Deg. She was also known as Morganna, Morgain or Morgan le Fay and she was the half sister of the great King Arthur. Now most of the world think Arthur was mortally wounded and taken to Avalon by his sister where he died in her arms. But the Welsh, the Welsh know he died in a mountain pass leading towards Cwm Dyli. He was laid to rest there by his loyal knights and his body was covered by stones to form Carnedd Arthur (Arthur’s Cairn). After his tragic death, his loyal knights ascended to a cave below the summit of Lliwedd and sealed the entrance. There they wait, their swords at the ready, for Arthur to rise from the dead when Wales is in mortal danger.

What history forgot is what happened to Morgên Dylwythen Deg. Being the powerful enchantress that she was, she enchanted a Celtic Heart to keep her soul safe. So she could also rise once again one day to rejoin Arthur when he would rise from the dead. She gave the heart to a dragon (draig), who took it to Annwn (the Welsh Otherworld) for safekeeping. This has caused it to be known as: Calon y Ddraig or the Dragon’s Heart……….

De sok wordt gebreid van de boord naar de teen. Het bevat kabels en kleine kabeltjes en verdraaide steken. Het patroon is weergegeven in een chart. En je hebt 2 ronde kraaltjes nodig (van 3-4 mm). Tevens adviseer ik een (semi-) solid garen of een garen met een heel lang kleurverloop. Bij te druk garen wordt het patroon moeilijk zichtbaar.

Inleiding:
Er was eens, in het noorden van een land dat we nu kennen als Wales, een zeer machtige tovenares genaamd Morgên Dylwythen Deg. Ze was ook bekend onder de namen Morganna, Morgain of Morgan le Fay, en ze was de halfzuster van de grote Koning Arthur. De meerderheid van de mensheid denkt dat Arthur in de strijd dodelijk gewond raakte en door zijn zus meegenomen werd naar Avalon, waar hij stierf in haar armen. Maar de Welsh, de Welsh weten wel beter. Zij weten dat hij stierf in een bergpas die leidde naar Cwm Dyli. Zijn lichaam werd door zijn trouwe ridders daar ten ruste gelegd en bedekt met stenen. Zo ontstond Carnedd Arthur (Arthur’s Steenhoop). Na zijn tragische dood beklommen zijn trouwe ridders Lliwedd en daar, net onder de top van de berg, vonden zij een grot waarin ze zichzelf opsloten. Daar wachten ze nog steeds, wapens in de aanslag, tot de dag dat Koning Arthur terug zal keren omdat Wales in dodelijk gevaar verkeert.
Wat de geschiedenis vergeten is, is wat er met Morgên Dylwythen Deg gebeurd is. Zij was zo’n machtige tovenares dat ze in staat was om een groot Keltisch hart te betoveren, zodat dit haar ziel kon bewaren en beschermen. Zo zou ook zij eerdaags kunnen herrijzen en Arthur vergezellen als hij terugkomt uit de dood. Zij gaf het hart aan een draak (draig) in bewaring die het meenam naar Annwn (the Welshe Andere Wereld). Hierdoor werd het hart bekend als Calon y Ddraig oftewel het Hart van de Draak………
