The swirling connected cables on these socks bring to mind decorative flourishes used in Calligraphy, a beautiful & artful style of handwriting. This pattern results in stretchy, fitted socks with negative ease. However, consider that the cables reduce stretchiness when choosing your size.
PATTERN DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Intermediate; some of the skills required include: unique cabling, twisted stitches, traveling BOR, picking up stitches, short-row shaping, & decreases.
SIZES: Adult S (M, L): to fit 8 (9, 10)“ 20.25 (22.75, 25.5)cm foot circumference to fit with about .75”/ 2 cm negative ease (using stretched gauge) or 2”/ 5 cm negative ease (using relaxed gauge)
GAUGE:
47 sts & 46 rows = 4“ 10 cm in cabled rib pattern, relaxed
35 sts = 4“ 10 cm in cabled rib pattern, stretched
MATERIALS:
100g skein of fingering weight sock yarn:
Shown above: Happy Feet 100 Splash (90% Superwash Merino Wool/10% nylon; 384 yds 351 m/100 gr 3.53 oz): color 109 Cranberry/Lime: 1 (1, 1) skein.
U.S. 2 (2.75 mm) needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
