Calivada was designed for the 2024 Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl. Named after the two states the crawl spans, California and Nevada, this asymmetrical triangle shawl is easier than it looks to make and wears beautifully. Designed for ANY weight yarn, Calivada is great in a wide range of fibers and weights! Whether you make a two-color version or the more simple one-color version, this squishy project is fun to make and easy to wear. A clever combination of knit, purl, and slipped stitches make the pattern a breeze to knit, using only one strand per row, while giving the impression of stranded colorwork.
This asymmetrical triangle shawl is worked from the corner to the side edge, with increases on every RS row to create the triangle shape. The increase edge is the neckline, so the patterning wears diagonally.
Higher contrast will show off the color changes more. Choose yarns that are the same weight and base. I love the Kacey Knits Yarn BFL I used for my two-color fingering weight sample; the stitch definition is amazing and it’s super soft! AVAILABLE HERE
