California Poppy Rectangular Shawl
This rectangular shawl was inspired by the color and beauty of La Jolla yarn by Baah! Yarns.
The rich texture of the lace pattern reminds one of the butterflies and petals of the gorgeous California poppies bobbing their heads in the summer breeze.
The shawl is worked from the center out. The provisional cast on along the center allows working two identical halves in the mirrored manner and avoids any need for grafting or sewing.
MATERIALS
The sample shown was knitted in La Jolla, by Baah! Yarns in the California poppy color. The yarn may be substituted with any fingering weight yarn. Substituting yarns may result in a different finished size and may also affect yardage required. For best results use a natural fiber.

A note for gardeners: Although the inspiration for this shawl came from the California poppy, it so happened that the beautiful Oriental poppies were blooming in my garden. The California poppy shawl was photographed with Oriental poppy from my garden.
