Cadenza for Fleece
I created this shawl originally for April and her new store Shop Fleece in Dallas as her first KAL, aka knit-a-long.
Cadenza: Initially an improvised cadence by a soloist; later becoming an elaborate and written out passage in an aria or concerto, featuring the skills of an instrumentalist or vocalist.
Looking at the finished project with its horizontal lines and swirls it is reminiscent of a musical staff. The name Cadenza so defines the design of this shawl. Inserting knitting terms in place of the musical terms, the following perfectly describes the process:
Initially an improvised stitch by a designer later becoming an elaborate and written out pattern featuring the skills of the designer.
A test knitter said it best: This pattern is addictive. It reels you in with its twists and turns and at first glance looks like serious knitting only. It is not difficult but it is involved and the results are well worth it.
Used here are a single and a variegated yarn that play of each other beautifully. The beads accentuate the look and create that special feeling of when you get a hug, as you toss the shawl over your shoulders~ If you ever used beads in your knitting, then you know what I mean…
This is an Intermediate project. The pattern is written, charted and has a how to video link included.
