Cables and Ribbon Wrap
My fashionista sister came to me one day and requested a unique accessory to wear with her dressy holiday ensemble to festive parties. I’m more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal, so my brain was mulling over ideas on how to create a versatile piece that could be worn with dressy or casual attire and….wah-la…the Cables and Ribbon Wrap was born! I love how you can change the look of this piece simply by using a little creativity with the removable tie-closure. Feeling feminine and flirty? Opt for a traditional thick ribbon closure. Do you love the vintage look? Try using a piece of lace as the tie. A favorite scarf from your everyday wardrobe will get a makeover when paired with this wrap. A frayed piece of fabric will create the ever-popular “shabby chic” look, or tie the wrap closed with a scrap of leather if you are the adventurous rebel type! And don’t let those complicated-looking cable stitches in the pattern scare you…in keeping with my favorite design techniques, these special stitches look fancy but are very simple to make….and I have included a photo tutorial to help.
Pattern is written in standard US crochet terms.
Necessary Crochet Skills: Working in rows, chain stitch, single crochet, slip stitches. That’s it! I would rate this as an “easy” pattern.
