Cabled Vest
Pattern is currently available to download for FREE from the Knitting Daily TV website, Episode 106: Exploring Cables in which Lisa Myers demonstrates how to make the cable.
Pattern Description from Knit So Fine: “Slouchy and comfortable, this vest has an easy fit that’s a little ‘retro’ without being totally ‘Flashdance.’ To keep the traditional look without a blousy effect, the ribbing is worked on the same size needle with more stitches than the body. To simplify the knitting, this vest is worked inside out so that most of the stitches are knitted (which most knitters prefer) rather than purled (which most knitters don’t).”
Finished Size: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48)“ (81.5 91.5, 101.5, 112, 122 cm) bust circumference.
Yarn: Fingering wight (#1 Super Fine). Filatura di Crosa Zarina (100% merino; 181 yd 165 m/50 g): #1396 cream, 5 (6, 6, 7, 8) balls.
Needles: U.S. size 4 (3.5 mm): 16” and 24” (40 and 60 cm) circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); cable needle (cn); tapestry needle.
Notes:
- Instructions are given for working this vest inside out to facilitate the cable pattern.
- The body is worked in a single piece in the round to the armholes, then the front and back are worked separately in rows to the shoulders.
