Cabled Country Comfort Cowl
I was wearing one of my nice warm cabled sweaters the other day, when I noticed a bit of a draft on my neck. I have several shawls I could have used to cuddle into, but I wanted something that would match the aran look of my sweater. So that’s how this little number was born! Isn’t it cute with the little white edging? And it’s just enough to keep that draft away and keep me perfectly comfy.
The cowl is knitted flat sideways and then seamed with three needle bind off or Kitchener stitch. A diamond cable motif runs around the center, with 6 stitch braid cables and simple 4 stitch cables on either side. After seaming, stitches are picked up on the top and bottom to create a feminine country feel with pivot edging. (See Abbreviation Guide for definitions and instructions for cables.)
There is also a chart on page 6 for those who enjoy reading a chart rather than written instructions.
