Cable Tights are a pair of practical baby tights that are worked in the round from the top down using 1 strand of Merino, Cotton Merino or Pure Silk.
You start by working the folded waistband before shaping the back body with short rows to make room for the diaper. Afterwards, you shape the crotch before you finish each leg separately. The heel is a ‘forethought heel’ which is an inserted type heel that is planned. Heel stitches are first knit onto a spare piece of yarn in a contrasting color, then when the rest of the foot is finished, stitches are picked up around the waste yarn and the heel is worked and shaped in the round. The waistband is folded, and an i-cord drawstring is inserted into the drawstring channel, or alternatively, replaced by a 1 cm ½” wide elastic.
