This pattern includes a chart, but also has written instructions. Also needed is a cable needle and a set of double-pointed needles in size 8.

The pattern is worked as a strip of cable that is sewn together, then stitches are picked up along one side of the cable and the hat is then knitted up to the top in a ribbed stitch with decreases. This is an excellent pattern for an intermediate knitter who would like to learn cable technique.

The medium size is plenty big enough to fit any adult, with the larger size being a little looser.
