MORE INFORMATION:
• Project uses chains, slip stitches, US double crochet/US treble crochet.
• Finished blanket measures 65cm/25½in square. Each quarter of the blanket measures approx 31cm/12¼in square.
• For this project, I used Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo DK (80% bamboo, 20% wool; 50g/95m/104yds). For the rainbow rows you’ll need approx 50g/95m/104yds of 7 different colours in shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink. For the background, you’ll need approx 250g/475m/520yds of grey or another neutral shade.
• You’ll also need a 4mm (UK 8, US G/6) hook and a tapestry needle.
DESIGNER INSPIRATION:
Becky Skuse says: “I love rainbow colour schemes so I designed and made this blanket for my cousin’s new baby. I used super-simple C2C crochet techniques so it’s ideal for beginners. The geometric rainbow effect is really easy because the project is divided into four smaller quarters. Each quarter is made with the same pattern of diagonal rows and then they’re joined together. Use a soft yarn for a newborn treat and customise the colours to bring cheer to your special someone.”
