Buttonwood Cardigan
The Buttonwood Cardigan is a lightweight sweater with interesting details such as a cable down the sleeves and ribbon facings on the button bands. You can choose a size with negative ease for a cute vintage look, or choose a more relaxed fit.

Fingering weight yarn: 1150 (1265, 1390, 1530, 1685) (1855, 2040, 2245, 2470) yds.

100 g, Ocean.
NEEDLES
For neck ribbing
US size 2 (3 mm) 16” circular needle, or two sizes smaller than gauge needle.
For body
US size 4 (3.5 mm) 24” or 32” circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
The sweater body is worked flat; the circular needle is to accommodate the number of stitches.
For bottom body ribbing and button bands
US size 2 (3 mm) 24” or 32” circular needle, or two sizes smaller than gauge needle.
For sleeves
US size 4 (3.5 mm) in your preferred type of needle for working small circumferences, or size needed to obtain gauge.
For bottom sleeve ribbing
US size 2 (3 mm) in your preferred type of needle for working small circumferences, or two sizes smaller than gauge needle.
NOTIONS
8 removable stitch markers: 4 in Color A and 4 in Color B
8-10 buttons, 5/8” diameter
8-10 safety pins or locking stitch markers for marking buttonholes

Optional: approx. 2 yards of grosgrain ribbon 5/8” wide for facing button bands.
GAUGE
In Stockinette stitch on gauge needle worked flat and in the round, 28 sts and 32 rows/rnds = 4” after blocking.
In cable pattern worked flat and in the round, 17 sts = 1.75” after blocking.
The buttons shown on the sample sweater are from Fleishman Fabrics & Supplies in Philadelphia. The ribbon is from Tie One On Ribbon.
