This reversible edging is on p.25 of 1892 Butterick’s The Art of Knitting. There are 8 cast-on stitches that increase to 11 stitches in the first row and are decreased back to 8 in the last (6th) row. This edging can be easily blocked straight or curved. The swatch is 1.25 inches at its widest at gauge.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, YO twice, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

20 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 thread will make 10 inches of this edging at gauge.
