I love stripes of all sorts—awning stripes, men’s striped shirts, beach umbrellas, flags—all are appealing sources for translation into crocheted garments. You only need a good assortment of yarn to choose from. This beautiful bamboo/wool/silk yarn with its subtle sheen comes in many great colors. I chose some pastels reminiscent of Renoir paintings and simply staggered the narrow and wide stripes. They became a perfect foil for the butterfly stitch border.
