Butterfly
I was asked to design a crochet version of the knitted Bower Bird (pictured left), so here is Butterfly. Same construction – a long scarf, sew-up the sleeve-underarms, then pick-up stitches around the ‘hole’ to work the collar. Voila!
The encompassing collar on this floaty shrug reminds us of the fantastic displays of a bower bird, splendidly lacy a grand statement, extremely wearable.
YOU WILL NEED
4 x 100g LIGHT MOONSHINE, 225m/100g (70% alpaca, 20% silk, 10% cashmere) or 4 x 100g hanks of any BHR DK yarn
6mm hook (for sleeves and back) and 7mm hook (for collar), sewing-up needle, 2 stitch markers
FINISHED SIZE (when garment is washed and blocked)
From cuff to cuff 150cm, circumference of sleeve 45cm, sleeve seam 28cm, from underarm to underarm 94cm, collar depth 45cm
GAUGE: 13 dc to 10cm on 6mm hook
