Burana Jacket
This cabled jacket with unique construction is a fun quick knit With flared horizontally-knit skirt, vertically-knit upper body, and top-down spiraling cabled sleeves, this almost-seamless knit is entertaining the whole way through
Finished Measurements:
32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56)“ / 81.5 (91.5, 101.5, 112, 122, 132, 142) cm bust
24.5 (25.5, 26, 26.5, 27, 27.5, 28)“ / 62 (65, 66, 67.5, 68.5, 70, 71) cm length
Gauge: 13 sts/24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch 13 sts = 3 inches in cable pattern (cable pattern flanked by 1 purl st on either side); one cable pattern repeat (18 rows) = 3” tall
Skills: Cabling, increasing, decreasing, picking up stitches, grafting, provisional cast-on
Shown in Fiber Fiend Bulky BFL (100% BFL 125 yd / 114 m per 4 oz skein); 7 (8, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12) skeins Majestic Purple (not currently in production), Size 36
Recommended substitutes: Dream in Color Groovy (previously known as “Fatty” and “Softy”) (100% merino 120 yd / 110 m per 100g skein); 7 (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) skeins color Deep Seaflower 230 (looks just like the photos)
Noro Silk Garden Chunky (45% silk, 45% mohair, and 10% lamb’s wool 66 yd / 60 m per 50g ball); 12 (14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23) balls color 8: lime/grey/violet/green (if you want something different; Fiber Fiend is knitting a second sample in this colorway)
Errata - Vertically-Knit Top Section: In the first paragraph, it should say “pick up and knit 153 (169, 189, 205, 224, 244, 260) sts…” At the end of the note, you should “pick up between 12.5-13 sts per cable repeat.” You may want to place markers in between the cables until the pattern is established in this section.
Shape Armholes: Work 38 (42, 47, 51, 55, 60, 64) sts in patt, bind off 8 (9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15) sts for right underarm, work 61 (67, 75, 81, 90, 96, 102) sts in patt, bind off 8 (9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15) sts for left underarm, work remaining 38 (42, 47, 51, 55, 60, 64) in patt. Left front, back, and right front, will now be worked separately.
