Building Bridges
Inspired by the historic liftbridge over the Erie Canal in Fairport, New York, and also inspiration for the logo for Liftbridge Yarns, Building Bridges is a triangular shawl (in 2 sizes!) worked from tip to long end with alternating stripe and mosaic colorwork sections, and then finished with a lace border. It begins with a short I-cord cast on and then segues into the colorwork. Both long sides are finished with two-stitch I-cord edges for a neat look and easy blocking.
The pattern is presented with both charts and written instructions for the mosaic and lace sections.

Notes
• Use markers to separate the two I-cord stitches at each edge. If desired, using markers to separate both the mosaic and stitch pattern multiples can help keep these patterns correctly aligned.
• On RS rows, slip the last two stitches wyib (with yarn in back).
• On WS rows, slip the last two stitches wyif (with yarn in front).
• M1 increases are always worked before the last 2 stitches of a RS row.
• Stitch counts are given for the end of each stripe and mosaic section. Before beginning a mosaic section, ensure that you have the correct number of stitches. The most common cause is forgetting an increase at the end of a RS row.
• Chart RS rows are read from right-to-left. Chart WS rows are read from left-to-right.
