At Easter 2016, I went to visit the Lady Lever Art Gallery at Port Sunlight (UK), which had just undergone a huge renovation. The gallery describes itself as A beautiful building housing one of the UK’s finest collections of fine and decorative art

One of the works of art belonging to the gallery is a painting by Sir John Everett Millais which was originally titled A Child’s World but is now better known now as Bubbles. The child in the painting is blowing bubbles with a clay pipe. Only the head and shoulders can be seen in my illusion interpretation.

The picture became very well known because it was used, in the late 1800s, to advertise Pears soap in a very new form of advertising.

I used about 440 metres (480yards) each of Lobelia and Parma Violet DK yarn. Any thickness can be used but your illusion might be a different size from the original. Mine is 70 cm x 80 cm (28” x 32”), not including the border. I used 3.25 mm needles.
