Down the slight hill, hidden by trees below the stilted cedar cabin, calm water lapped at the inlet’s edge. To potential buyers it was called Sebago Cove, but to locals it was Muddy River. It usually teemed with vacationers midsummer, but once Labor Day passed the waters stilled. Mallards rested. Stars above danced in the clear, chilly night sky and applewood smoke wafted up from the cheap Weber. Briquettes glowed as the cheese melted and sizzled. Crickets sang goodbye to summer as we sat and ate. A polyester plaid throw was tossed on the edge of the worn picnic table, marked by the uncluttered rest that comes from the changing of seasons.

This piece is knit flat to start for neckline shaping, then joined and worked in the round seamlessly. Hood is picked up and knit, then joined at top with a three needle bind off. Hood as written will produce point, but instructions are also included to soften the tip.
