There are no brioche purls! With the clever use of brioche knits and slip stitches, you’ll get the look of purls without any of the work. Despite the colorful results, this design is actually a single-colored brioche shawl - no slipping back for that contrasting color! Finally, don’t fear the crescent mustache - a secret design element eliminates it from the start!

Blocked Gauge:
15 sts and 15 rows over 4”/ 10cm in brioche Stockinette stitch. Note: exact gauge is not critical to this design. Gauge variations may impact final size and yardage.

Special Notes:

• Construct It: Brioche Step Shawl is a purl-less design! With the nature of brioche, you get the look of purls, but only work brioche knit and slip stitches.
• Break It: at each color transition when directed to break yarn, leaving a 6”/ 15cm long tail for weaving in.
• Wrap It: pick up wraps, if desired. Sample shows wraps picked up. If wraps are left in place, on wrapped sts, even of the same color, you’ll get a “necktie” look where they are left.
