Brioche My Heart : a precious heart knit with loving two-color brioche stitches - Now including instructions for a Mini Heart!!

Spread the love! Brioche My Heart is a small mug mat that can be knit with leftover yarns, and makes a wonderful gift for loved ones. I am grateful to be with my small family during this time, but all of my extended family are far away. We haven’t seen them in person for almost a year. Sending a heart mat to someone you love is a great way to connect and tell someone you love them. I wanted to release this pattern in time for Valentine’s Day, so that you can create something to send to a loved one or decorate your home.

Use your creativity with this project! Don’t worry so much about gauge or what yarn to use, but grab what inspires you the most. Any weight yarn can be used for this! Your heart will be smaller if you choose a lighter weight yarn like lace or sport, and it will be larger if you choose a heavier weight like worsted, or even bulky! Play around to see what sizes you like! Please note that your yarn amounts may vary if you use different weights.

A few things you can do with your finished hearts:

• Gift it to a loved one, or decorate your own home as a mug mat.
• Knit several and string together for a cute heart bunting to decorate your home.
• Knit two and seam them together using the Mattress Stitch and stuff with fiber fill or fabric to make an adorable plushie or pillow. I have put together a video tutorial for how I did this on my YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/BriocheMyHeart

Skill level:
Beginner - Intermediate. This is a great first pattern to try knitting brioche flat and trying out a couple increases and decreases! Techniques used: brioche knit, brioche purl, brioche increases and decreases (no br4st dec!), knitting, purling.

This pattern is both written and charted, for your convenience!

Construction Notes:
This decorative heart-shaped mat is constructed entirely of two-color brioche. The shape is created by using cleverly placed brioche increases and decreases. The blocking process accentuates the final shape of the heart.

Sizes offered: Mini (Regular)
2.75 (7.5)” / 7 (19) cm width, 3 (8)” / 7.5 (20) from top of heart to bottom point (taken after blocking). Please note that size may vary depending on type of yarn used.

Gauge:
18 sts x 24 rows = 4” / 10 cm; measured in even two-color brioche stitch knit flat (taken after blocking).
