Would you like to go for a walk with me? I’ll take you for a stroll along the fascinating brioche technique, from the easiest to the most challenging. Brioche and caminante, the word in Spanish for walker, mix together to form the name Briochante.
Briochante is a triangular shawl, worked almost entirely with the brioche technique. You will start this journey with a garter tab and you will move across four different sections, each one more complex than the other. The intention for this is to help you learn this technique from the basics. In the first section you will discover the simple one color brioche. In the second one you will add a new color to start playing with the two of them. In the third section you will experiment with syncopated brioche and finally you will arrive into the playful fourth section and learn how to “draw” with your stitches.
This pattern includes the instruction for two different versions. Pick your favorite according to their complexity or even try with both!

Mohair version: in the last section the drawing is simpler, since it intersperses a run of increases and decreases (which create the drawing) with a simple brioche run. This one is made with mohair and fingering weight yarn (green and white sample).

Fingering version: in the last section there is increases and decreases in all the runs of the right side of the fabric. This one is made only with fingering weight yarn (gray and pink sample).

Gauge: 23 sts X 21 rows =10 cm / 4”, measured over one color flat brioche after blocking with US 4/3.5 mm circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Briochante es un chal triangular reversible, tejido casi completamente en punto brioche. Empezaras con una lengüeta y te moverás por 5 secciones diferentes, cada una más compleja que la anterior. La intención de esto es ayudarte a aprender la técnica desde lo más básico. En la primera sección descubrirás el brioche en 1 color. En la segunda sección añadirás 1 color para tejer con ambos colores. En la tercera sección experimentaras el brioche sincopado y finalmente llegaras a la divertida sección final donde aprenderás a “dibujar” con tus puntos.

Este patrón contiene instrucciones para tejer 2 diferentes versiones. Elige tu favorita de acuerdo a su complejidad o incluso puedes tejer las dos!

Versión Mohair: en la última sección el dibujo es más simple, intercalando una corrida de aumentos y disminuciones con corridas de brioche básico. Esta versión se encuentra tejida en mohair e hilado grosor fingering (chal en verde y blanco).

Versión Fingering: en la última sección todas las corridas del lado derecho contienen aumentos y disminuciones. Esta versión se encuentra tejida solo con hilado grosor fingering (chal en gris y rosado).

Muestra: 23 pts X 21 Corrs = 4”/ 10 cm medida en brioche en 1 color, después de bloquear con agujas 3,5 mm o el tamaño para obtener la muestra
