Brilliant Corners
Brilliant Corners is a tune by Theolonius Monk with a ternary (three part) structure. Like Monk’s intriguing composition, the three-shade patterns and rhythms of this hat are simultaneously regular, yet unpredictable. A draft to weave the accompanying belt is included with the pattern.

Gauge
28 sts and 36 rounds to 10cm / 4in over corrugated rib pattern using gauge-size needle (washed and blocked)
Use 3.25mm needle as a starting point for swatching.
Check your gauge carefully. If your gauge tends to tighten when purling, you may need to go up a needle size. This stitch pattern sometimes requires fairly aggressive blocking.
Size
One size to fit head with 51-56cm / 20-22in circumference
This hat is a neatly-fitting beanie. Be sure to check your gauge, and block finished hat appropriately.
