This sweater/coat, with pockets, is worked with 2 yarns held together to produce a bulky gauge. Two closely related colors give a nice randomly variegated effect. For example, a worsted weight yarn can be paired with another worsted or an aran. The black and gray shown in the sample looks more black because the black yarn was a slightly heavier weight.

A second sample was knit with Tess’ Designer Yarns superwash merino worsted, one black and the other variegated grays.

The garment was designed by Caitlin Mociun and myself, a few years ago, but the pattern was completed recently. Caitlin (website at mociun.com) is a talented Brooklyn resident and it was fun to work with her as a knitter.

The page of the pattern has a photo; the remaining pages contain instructions and graphs. The yoke is both charted and written, and there is a stitch-map version .
