Summary: Two versions of the same booties. The boy’s version features twisted cord for the tie closure. The girl’s version uses a small amount of a contrasting color for embroidered accents, and ties closed with ribbon.
There is nothing cuter than handknitted booties worn on a pair of chubby baby legs. Watching babies’ feet move furiously is a secret delight. Just like the delight babies show as they find their own feet, remove their booties and expose their toes. These knitted booties are the perfect design for newborns and infants up to 3 months old.
Finished Size: From heel to toe, 3 ¾”” (9.5 cm).
Yarn: Cottage Industry Pakucho (100% organic cotton)
Yarn Weight: 95 yd 87 m/50 g]: girl’s booties, #6 avocado (MC), 1 ball, #2 vanilla (CC), few yd; boy’s booties, #5 chocolate, 1 ball.
Needles: Size 6 (4 mm) straight, and size 5 (3.75 mm): straight (for girl’s booties only).
Notions: Stitch holders; Tapestry needle; two 3/8″ (1-cm) wide x 18″ (45.5-cm) lengths of ribbon for girl’s booties.
Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows = 4″(10 cm) in St st on larger needles.
