Both Sides Now Shawl
Right side? Wrong side? Both sides now! This shawl looks equally lovely on both sides. On what is called the right side, the light colored Twigs stitch pattern resembles branching twigs hanging down, and the dark colored Twigs stitch pattern evokes light veined leaves or feathers between the darker Brioche knit stitches. The other side of the shawl features a reversed color scheme, and the branches point up instead of down. Magic!
This two-color top-down crescent shawl begins at the center neck. The simple modified half-pi shaping makes it easy to maintain stitch counts within sections. Alternating the dominant color creates four different looks with only two stitch patterns. Most of the knitting is simple Brioche Rib. Instructions are given for two sizes. The stitch patterns are both charted and written.
Pattern is written in two sizes. Larger (green sample and blue sample) size uses 2 skeins each of LC and DC yarn. (Light color, dark color.)
Smaller size (purple shawlette) uses one skein each of LC and DC yarn; it has fewer sections.
Green sample is 66” size; model is 5’6” tall.
Blue sample is also 66” size.
Purple sample is 48” size.
Are you confused by the rearranging of the YO in the DC Twigs section? I’ve made a video for you: https://youtu.be/ciTqszPhTSE
