Border Ballad
What could be nicer to wrap yourself up in than yards of pure alpaca with a delicate lace edging?? This scarf was a joy to make; it grew quickly and the pattern instructions clearly state what to expect. The pretty lace edging is easy to work and the increases and decreases are placed in easy to remember parts of the repeat, whilst the straight edge is super neat and uses a technique which I developed myself to achieve supreme straightness. The photographed scarf took less than a week to make and I already know three keen knitters who are waiting to make it! Any worsted weight or heavy double knitting yarn would be suitable, but I chose Juniper Moon Farm Herriot for its softness and sheer luxury. The photos don’t do it justice, because it is so dark up here in the Scottish borders at this time of year, but I’m sure we will get some project pictures soon and I will rush out to take a snap at the first glimmer of sunshine!
