Bootie Liscious
I’m keeping the price low on this pattern because living is very expensive out there these days…and babies themselves are expensive! So, take advantage of this deal!
Spring makes me think of babies and new life in general. Here’s a pattern to celebrate new beginnings! You will need a set of 3 double pointed knitting needles for each size you want to make (detailed below and in pattern). You will use different size yarns and needles to get different size booties (detailed below and in pattern), since the bootie proportions will remain the same with different sizes. There is no gauge listed on this pattern. Most of you will LOVE that and you may never see any of my patterns say that again! Use the needle size listed and make sure you like the fabric generated. If it’s too tight, go up a size, too loose, go down a size.
This is a super easy pattern for a wonderful cuffed bootie in garter stitch with a ribbon at the ankle; and they stay on! It’s a variation on the pattern I’ve used for years (even for my own baby - now 33 years old!). And I never lost a bootie - really!
When I go to a baby shower or give a baby gift to a newborn, my favorite gift is a box of booties in many different sizes and colors and fibers. It’s always a big hit (no one can resist baby feet). They are so adorable and useful, too! You can accomplish this easily with just this one pattern. Booties are also a great way to use up stash yarn.
These sweet booties are garter stitch on the bottom and so easy and quick, ribbed (2 variations of ribbing) at the top with variations for shorter cuff and unfolded cuff, cabled/bobbled, lace, ruffled, fuzzy variations! No less than SIX variations from the one excellent basic pattern!
This bootie pattern and all variations will fit:
preemie of 30 weeks gestation+ (lace weight and size US0/2mm dpns), newborn (fingering weight and size US2/2.75mm dpns), 3 - 12 months (sport weight yarn and size US4/3.5mm dpns), 12 - 18 months (dk weight yarn and size US 6/4mm dpns), and 18 - 24 months (worsted weight yarn and size US8/5mm dpns). Bootie foot lengths from 3” to 5.5” unstretched.
This is an easy to follow pattern, with a photo tutorial for picking up the toe/side area. I have an easy method for this!
Congratulations to all new mommies out there - and you grandmothers: Get Knitting!!
NOTE: The gauge listed above is a gauge for a worsted weight garter stitch, this is not necessarily the gauge you will get, I had to list one here. Also, the yarns are not necessarily the ones you will use. Instead, you can pick yarns according to their weight and use the needles I list for that size to go with the yarn weight. You get different sizes by changing yarn and needle size, not by adding or subtracting stitches in the pattern. You will use the exact same pattern for every size! See? Easy!
