BOOM BASIC BEANIE (with add-ons)
skill level: beginner
(this PDF combines the four different beanies I designed for Zeeman in one pattern. All based on one BOOM BASIC BEANIE)
Zeeman, a Dutch chain of textile goods stores, asked me to design some hats to promote their yarn. The store is known for their cheap products and even though I’m not a huge fan of acrylic yarn, it’s perfect for beginners, vegan’s, those with allergies and/or those on a budget. I was flattered to design for them and accordingly reach a whole new group of people that might want to pick up knitting as a new hobby (read: addiction) and so I got to work.
I design mostly for beginners so nothing new there, but this time it had to be for a very wide target group and so I came up with the BOOM BASIC BEANIE, basic so suitable for everyone, but in no way boring. The XL features make it an easy going accessory, inspired by skaters and snowboarders. It’s semi-bulky and has a large distinctive ribbed edge. It has a loose fit so you can either wear it loosely on your head or fold it in your neck for a more fitting look. Using different materials (it works in wool too! ;-) )and adding different elements (a pompom, bow or knitting with bold stripes) make this hat basic but bold. This pattern includes all the extra’s to make the basic beanie made-to-measure your style. It’s knit flat with simple decreases so super easy for any beginner!
Hope you like knitting it as much as wearing it!
Either wich way, wear it ‘easy’!
Knit On!
