This vest is a study in the versatility of ribbing, showcasing how different types can transform both the look and function of a garment. The main body is crafted in Broken Rib, a textured pattern created by alternating two rows of single ribbing with two rows of garter stitch. While Broken Rib offers a gentle elasticity, it lacks the snug embrace of classic 1x1 ribbing. To subtly enhance the silhouette, a short band of 1x1 ribbing is strategically placed at the small of the back, softly cinching the fabric for a touch of shaping. This detail is further highlighted by a charming tab, buttoned in place both as an embellishment and for ensuring the ribbing stays taut. Small inset pockets worked on both fronts are also knit in 1x1 ribbing, offering not only a contrast to the main pattern but also a cozy spot to tuck your bookbinding tools or other cherished treasures.
