Bonita
Loving Bonita?? She has 3 Halloween friends you might want to meet. Check out Boomer, Gordon and now Paula!
Bonita has a “bone” to pick with you… she doesn’t understand how no one could have realized that skeletons get chilly in the fall and appreciate a good handknit sweater just as much as anyone else. Sweater weather is not just for the living anymore! Bonita is knit from the skull down, seamlessly, and stuffed along the way. She can’t wait to be a part of your spooky decor.
Finished Measurements
Approx. 7.5” (19 cm) tall and 8.5” (21 cm) toy head circumference when stuffed.
Needles
Size 1 (2.5 mm) double-pointed needles (dpn) or other needles preferred for small circumference knitting.
Notions
Yarn needle, Polyfil for stuffing, black felt (for eyes), waste yarn.
Yarn
Leading Men Showstopper mini skein (75% Superwash Merino & 25% Nylon; 92 yd 84 m/1 oz 20 g): Bare Necessities (A), Darkest Hour (B), Ol’ Blue Eyes (C), Blue Steel (D), and Poison Apple (E); 1 skein each.
Gauge
30 sts and 38 rnds = 4” (10cm) in stockinette st.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Note: Gauge is not super critical in this pattern, use a needle size appropriate to the yarn you’re using.*
Notes
- This pattern is worked seamlessly in the round from the top down.
- The teeth are created using stranded colorwork while working several short rows on the skull.
- The bones on the arms and legs are created by using an Integrated I-cord technique (see below). The bones on the hands are worked using the stranded method.
- For best results, don’t overstuff the toy.
- Bonita’s eyes can be customized to whatever shape you’d like them to be.
ERRATA:
-
For the Left Arm/Hand section, Rnd 12 should be labeled as a dec rnd.
