Boing Boing Socks
This pattern is a variation of ribbed socks with simple cables to add a little more interest to both the socks and the knitting of them. They have a very springy fabric - Boing Boing!
The pattern is written for knitting toe-up/magic loop but also includes information for knitting cuff down - they will look the same whichever way they are knit. (The pattern has been tested both ways).
A mini gusset allows a little more ease around the instep and the extra stitches are incorporated into the leg.
Instructions are given for three widths - Small (8-9 inches), Medium (9-10 inches) and Large (10-11 inches), and for five different foot lengths (UK shoes sizes 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 - approximately US shoe sizes 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10).
It is important to get the correct row gauge if following the pattern exactly as all the row counts given have been calculated on this basis. The pattern, however, is easily adapted to other row gauges by just amending the number of rib rows at fixed points indicated in the pattern.
A sizing chart specifies the sequence/number of rows to knit for each width/shoe size combination for the foot. The leg pattern is the same for all sizes.
A pattern diagram shows how the rib rows flow into the cable rows and there are also written instructions.
These socks will look best in a solid or semi-solid sock yarn.
