Bobble Blue
Interweave SKU: EP0573
Pattern description from Interweave Knits, Spring 2006:
Traditional Aran patterns and plenty of bobbles create a lively play of pattern in a change-of-the-season V-neck cardigan. A smooth unvariegated yarn in a blend of Suri alpaca and merino shows off the twists and turns in the stitchwork and allows for comfort next to the skin. The cropped length, short sleeves, and a bright color make this garment a worthy descendant of classic sweater style.
Finished Size: 36 (38, 40½, 45½)“ (91.5 [96.5, 103, 115.5] cm) bust/chest circumference.
Yarn: Plymouth Suri Merino (55% alpaca, 45% merino; 109 yd [100 m]/50 g): #5297 French blue, 8 (9, 9, 10) balls.
Needles: Size 6 (4 mm) and 7 (4.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Cable needle (cn); five 7/8” (2.2-cm) buttons; markers (m); removable markers; tapestry needle.
Additional Gauge:
- 30 sts of Diamond chart measure 5” (12/5 cm) wide using larger needles
- 32 sts of Rope Cable chart measure 5.5” (14 cm) wide using larger needles.
Note from Interweave Knits, Spring 2006:
The stitch count for the charted rope cable pattern does not remain constant. In Rows 3, 7, and 11, each 1-stitch knit column temporarily increases to 3 stitches, which are decreased back down to 1 stitch on the following WS row. For the stitch counts given in the instructions below, each single-stitch knit column is always counts as 1 stitch, even if you happen to be on a row where it has temporarily increased to 3 stitches.
