Combining a broken-rib pattern on the body with wide cables along the sleeves, the drop-shoulder Bluebird Day Pullover is simple yet stunning. The pullover is worked in the round from the bottom edge to the underarm, then the upper front and back are worked separately back and forth.

Yarn HiKoo Kenzie (50% New Zealand Merino wool, 25% nylon, 10% angora, 10% alpaca, 5% silk noils; 160 yd 146 m/ 1 ¾ oz 50 g): #1027 Takahe, 12 (13, 14, 16, 17, 19, 19, 20) skeins. Yarn distributed by Skacel.

Needles Size 8 (5 mm): 32” circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Size 7 (4.5 mm): 16” cir and set of dpn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); cable needle (cn); stitch holders; spare size 7 (4.5 mm) or smaller 16” cir needle; tapestry needle.

Gauge 19 sts and 31 rnds = 4” in Broken Rib on larger needle; 37 sts and 31 rnds = 4” in cable patt on larger needle.

NOTES

The body of this pullover is worked in the round from the lower edge to the underarm, then the upper front and back are worked separately back and forth. After the shoulders are joined, sleeve stitches are picked up and the sleeves are worked in the round from the top down.
