Blue Skies Ahead
I LOVE this pattern! It is a joy to knit and to wear. It’s big enough to be easily worn in different ways. Look at the photos for suggestions on how to wear it. It’s ultra-feminine, crescent shaped and has deep lace on the bottom and a touch of lace at the top. It’s flowy and gorgeous! I chart the lace myself, so you won’t see these lace stitches anywhere else. This would make a great gift for anyone who needs to look toward tomorrow for hope and strength during a personal crisis or other calamity in their life.
There are a few cables, just simple ones, to add some textural interest. You will pull down points when blocking this beauty.
I love how the gradient of Knit Picks “Scroll” really works in this pattern, to highlight the division of the lace and the crescent shaping. It also comes in many luscious color gradients. You can also make this shawl in a solid color. I did use almost all of both skeins; so, if you tend to be a loose knitter and don’t do a gauge swatch, you should buy or ask your lys to hold a third skein for you in case your gauge changes in the course of knitting this lovely shawl.
You will need to know or learn the following stitches: k, p, k2tog, ssk, k2kpo, c4b, c4f and yo w&t. Complete directions for acconpmlishing these sts and techniques. The lace charts are also written out for those knitters who don’t like charts. The lace on the beginning of the crescent shaping will automatically scallop itself when blocking. The colors of the ombre are manupilated to accomplish a clean delineation between the lace and the crescent shaping above.
On a personal note, I dedicate this shawl to my dear friend, Che’re. She recently lost someone she loved. I want her to know that it takes time, but she will smile again and cherish her memories of their time together. Love you, Che’re.
