Blue Lobstah' Cowl
by Ann Budd
In honor of the Spring 2017 Knit For Fun Retreat in Freeport, Maine, this textured cowl pays homage to Maine and lobsters.
The crossover-stitch openwork pattern between garter stitch bands reminds me of the lattice on lobster traps. The yarn in Tern from Maine’s Quince & Co. in a “Blue Lobster” colorway specially died by Forage Color of Searsmont, Maine.
The stitch pattern repeats over 4 stitches and 12 rounds and is quickly memorized, which makes it ideal for retreat (or any group) knitting. A Channel Island cast-on and bind-off gives the cowl slightly fanciful edges.
