Blanket with Bobble Owl
This pattern is also available as part of a collection.
This pattern is for a sweet little baby blanket which can be worked in colours to suit a boy or a girl.
When worked, in DK yarn, the finished size of each pattern block is 18 x 18cm (7 x 7in); the join and border adds approximately 2.5cm (1in) to the overall size.
When worked in Aran/WW yarn, the finished size of each pattern block is 20 x 20cm (8 x 8in); the join and border adds approximately 5cm (2in) to the size.
As a reference, 6 blocks joined as in the example (3 patterned and 3 plain), will require 200g (400m) of main colour and 150g (300m) of contrasting colour.
Finished size in DK is approximately 60 x 42.5cm (24 x 17in) and in Aran/WW is 65 x 48cm (26 x 19in).
You will need chosen yarn, an appropriately sized hook, some oddments of black, white and a contrasting colour for eyes and beak (optional) and a needle for neatening ends.
Other yarns will work but, finished dimensions will vary.
You should aim for a gauge where 10 rows over 10sts (UK dc) produces a square.
Variations in this will produce larger or smaller squares and, in some cases, you will get a rectangular shape. Providing the change is not too great, the finished look of the blanket will not be affected.
The pattern is written in UK terms with a table of US equivalents provided where applicable.
