These little birdies are easy to knit and require only a little bit of sewing together. You could make these in any colours, how about black and white for a penguin, or brown and red for a robin? You can also make these without the rattle handle to make cute little birdie toys. You can add a squeaker or rattle inside the bird as you stuff it to make a musical bird.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the rattles are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). Please do ensure the eyes and beak are sewn on securely so that they cannot be pulled off and swallowed.

NEEDLES
A pair of 4mm single pointed knitting needles (US 6).

RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; up to 25g in each colour.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, and felt fabric for beak and eyes.

SIZES
One size only - 18cm tall.

TECHNIQUES
For beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and a little seaming to finish.
