This colorful set is easier to knit then you might think! Slipped stitches are used to create the look of traditional stranded colorwork. The magic of mosaic knitting gives this hat and mitt set a fantastic pop of color to brighten anyone’s day.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
• Hat: Approx 16.5 (18, 20.5)“ / 42 (45.5, 52) cm circumference x 9 (9,
9.5)” / 23 (23, 24) cm tall for the beanie version x 11 (11, 11.5)“ / 28
(28, 29) cm tall for the slouchy version
• Mitts: Approx 7 (8.25, 9.5)” / 18 (21, 24) cm circ (at widest part of
hand) x approx 10.75” / 27.5 cm long
YARN
Hat: Fingering weight yarn in the following yardages:
• MC: Approx 95 (105, 125) yd / 87 (96, 114) m (for beanie version), or 145 (165, 180) yd / 133 (151, 165) m (for slouchy version)
• CC1: Approx 50 (55, 60) yd / 46 (50, 55) m (for both versions)
• CC2: Approx 30 (35, 40) yd / 28 (32, 37) m (for both versions)
Mitts: Fingering weight yarn in the following yardages:
• MC: Approx 60 (70, 80) yd / 55 (64, 73) m
• CC1: Approx 50 (60, 70) yd / 46 (56, 64) m
• CC2: Approx 26 (30, 40) yd / 24 (28, 37) m
GAUGE
27 sts and 32 rounds = 4” in St st, blocked on larger needle
NEEDLES
Needles listed is suggested. Always take time to swatch.
• Gauge Needle: Size US 5 (3.75 mm) 16” circular (circ) and double pointed needles (dpns)
• Smaller Needle: Size US 2 (2.75 mm) 16” cm circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns)
NOTES
• When working chart, only one color is used to work each round. Knit the sts in the working color, and slip the sts in the other color purlwise with yarn in back. Work loosely to maintain gauge.
