I started with one hat and an idea. This blossomed into the idea of making 3 hats from 3 colors of Targhee Biggie. Then I decided I needed to have more options and more hats. Isn’t that the way it is. Hats are like potato chips for me. Once I get started, I’m going to eat the whole bag or knit all the yarn. I’ve ended up with a pattern much like the rumpus shawls of my past where you can mix and match. They all start with the same brim but you can choose from 6 different hat body patterns and 3 different crown patterns. There’s so many ways you can mix and match these patterns.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Let’s talk a little bit about sizing. You want a hat that’s snug on your head but not going to be ridiculously small looking. Ie, the smallest size will stretch to 28 inches but it looks ridiculous. Also, the more you stretch it wide, the more height you lose to compensate. Go try it on a hat you have, I’ll wait here. So I’m giving you guidelines but know that you can flaunt them all you want.

Size A = 17 inches 43cm fully relaxed. 24 inches 61cm comfortably stretched. Recommended for people with head sizes 19-24 48-61cm
Size B = 23 inches 58cm fully relaxed. 30 inches 76cm comfortably stretched. Recommended for people with head sizes 25-30 63-76cm

MATERIALS:
Yarn: Spunky Eclectic Targhee Biggie – Actual yardage will vary depending on your patterning choices. Start with 45 (55) yards 41(50) meters each of 3 colors
Needles: US 8 (5mm) in circular used magic loop or a mix of circulars and Dps or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 16 sts per 4 in. 17sts per 10cm over stockinette. 5 rows per inch 2 rows per cm If you can only meet one part of the gauge, the st gauge is more important as most of the directions are in length not rows.

Color details:
Raindrops, Diamond Flower, and Simple Stripe use the colorways Hi Ho Silver, Little Black Dress, and Juniper Berry.
Snowflake uses Dijon, Suburbia, and Divebar
Yule Stripes uses Natural, Xmas Red, and Envy
Checkered uses Ginkgo, Natural, and Little Black Dress
