The “BETSY” hat - a patriotic flag hat
Knit a red white and blue flag hat to wear to the Fourth of July parade this year!
The hat is knit flat in 2 pieces and then seamed together using a 3-needle bind off.
The stars are done in crochet.
THE BASICS
• Pattern includes 6 sizes: Newborn / 3-6 months / 6-12 months / Toddler / Child / Adult
• Pattern is written in ENGLISH and uses standard U.S. knitting terms
• Instructions are for knitting flat on straight needles
• Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
• Knitting skill level - INTERMEDIATE
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED
• Basic knit and purl stitches
• 3-needle bind off
• Chain, and single crochet stitches
SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED
• Approx. 90 to 180 yds (82 to 165 m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn depending on size made
• 3 U.S. size 6 (4mm) straight needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• U.S. size E (3.5 mm) crochet hook for stars
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle
