This pattern is part of the eBook Berlin - Wrapped in Red, the result of a collaboration between Steffi Palm & Marion Bulin, owners of Yarn over Berlin, and their fabulous and creative friends. The eBook is part of the Malabrigo Freelance pattern project and features several Malabrigo yarns used for ten red patterns named after Berlin’s districts, rivers or sights.

The east and the west parts of the formerly separated city have been re-united since 1989 bringing the district of Berlin Mitte (center) back to the center again. The three parts of this shawl stand for the reunion of Berlin which was also reinstated as the capital of Germany.

This textured shawl starts as a pentagon knitted in the round from the middle to the edge. Then 3 sides of the pentagon are BO and the other two, left and right, are worked forth and back in rows as a triangle to the tip. The complete shawl has a triangle shape when blocked.

Gauge: 24 sts and 36 rows = 10 cm/ 4 inches in pattern, unblocked and 20 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm/ 4 inches in pattern, blocked

Gauge is not critical but will have an effect on size and yardage needed

Sizes: size 1 (size 2) approx. 160 cm/ 64 inches (212.5 cm/ 85 inches) width along top edge, 52 cm/ 21 inches (70 cm/ 28 inches) depth

Diese Anleitung ist Teil des eBooks * Berlin - Wrapped in Red * und das Ergebnis einer Zusammenarbeit zwischen Steffi Palm & Marion Bulin, Inhaber von Yarn over Berlin, und ihren fabelhaften und kreativen Freunden. Das eBook ist Teil des Malabrigo Freelance pattern projects und enthält elf rote Anleitungen, die aus verschiedenen Malabrigo Garne gestrickt wurden und die nach Berliner Bezirken, Flüssen oder Sehenswürdigkeiten benannt sind.

Der Ost- und der Westteil der ehemals geteilten Stadt sind seit 1989 wieder vereinigt und treffen im Stadtteil Berlin Mitte aufeinander. Die drei Teile dieses Tuchs stehen für die Vereinigung von Berlin, das dann auch wieder zur Hauptstadt von Deutschland wurde.

Dieses strukturierte Tuch beginnt als Fünfeck, das in Runden von der Mitte zum Rand gestrickt wird. Anschließend werden 3 Seiten des Fünfecks abgekettet und die anderen beiden, links und rechts, in Reihen hin und zurück als Dreieck bis zur Spitze gestrickt. Das komplette Tuch hat nach dem Spannen eine Dreiecksform.

Maschenprobe: 24 M x 36 R = 10 x 10 cm, im Muster, ungespannt, und 20 M x 30 R = 10 x 10 cm, im Muster, gespannt

Eine abweichende Maschenprobe wirkt sich auf Größe und benötigte Wollmenge aus.
