Whether you pull on this garment over a dress, or wear it with jeans while out with friends, the Belted Coat is just the kind of sweater every woman needs. Functional to wear and impressive in look, the Belted Coat is the definition of a wardrobe staple.

Worked bottom up, in pieces and seamed together for optimal fit and structure. Set-in sleeves and English tailored shoulders where the fronts wrap around to the back for an angled shoulder seam. Front bands and collar are picked up and worked after assembly.

#sizeinclusive to a 66.75” / 169.5 cm finished chest measurement.

This knitting pattern includes written directions, chart and written instructions for stitch pattern, front and back images, and a schematic with measurements.

Substitution Notes
Look for a Bulky weight yarn meant to knit up at 3-3.75 sts = 1” (2.5 cm) on 6-8mm (US 10-11) needles. A lofty wool or wool blend makes a great choice so the weight of the yarn doesn’t stretch out the gauge too much. Two strands of a sport weight yarn held together would probably work, but you would need to swatch to be sure.

Techniques
Increases/decreases, short rows, slipped stitches, working shaping in pattern, basic set-in sleeve sweater construction, English tailored shoulders (with clear instructions), worked flat, bottom up, seamed, picking up stitches.
